I was in Kent the other evening, seeing an old friend who had just flown into Lydd Airport by private jet.
It was a Tuesday night, the rain was coming down like stair rods and we were heading towards a little restaurant called The Secret Garden.
I had never been there before and thought I would share with you what a hidden gem this place is.
Set amongst the Kent countryside, within a cobbled courtyard and with a large Victorian walled garden, we were treated to a 3 course taste explosion the quality you would expect from the finest Michelin starred restaurant….and all for £20 How do they even do that?
The welcome was warm, the service attentive, the menu imaginative and the produce seasonal and local was absolutely delicious (special mention for the gooseberry cheesecake with gooseberry sorbet, fresh picked from the garden. It’s to die for), and all washed down with wine from local vineyards. A big huge thank you to second chef Greig Hughes, we had a fantastic evening and will definitely come again
